Back in 2018 I published a little book that was an international best seller. It’s called The Cool Stuff Jar: Three Simple Ways to Live a Happy Life. In it I talk about three areas you can focus on to help you live happily. They are mindset, creativity and play. While many people focus on improving their mindset, my belief is that not enough people are paying attention to creativity and play in their lives.
I ran a successful business coaching practice for 20 years. One thing I noticed was that many of my clients were buried in their businesses and were not taking enough time to make sure THEY felt happy. As an entrepreneur, I understand that running your own business takes a lot of time and energy. I know that a lot of important activities can slip off anyone’s plate. And you don’t have to own your own business to have similar drains on your time and energy!
However, I also know that there are some things that should be non-negotiable. So, while you carve out the time to ensure you have a quality mindset, it’s equally important to carve out regular time for creativity and play. Small changes in these areas will yield significant results. When you feed your brain something fresh, you’ll probably find yourself feeling curious and more relaxed. This is when your mind is more open to solving problems and recognizing new possibilities.
When I began transitioning away from my coaching practice, I took a good look at what I wanted to do to be happy in this next phase of life. I decided that I wanted to spend more time in my studio making art and teaching classes. I also thought about what else I might do as an entrepreneur. For a while now, I’ve envisioned setting up an online school that I could use to spread creativity and play beyond the walls of my studio. So, that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
Over the coming months, I’ll be rolling out a whole new website that will feature my art, the first of many online classes, and some fun and useful products. I’ll also be launching a program that will give you the opportunity to easily add some creativity and play into your world.
So stay tuned, sign up for the newsletter and look forward enjoying a fresh heaping helping of creativity and play!
